Thibodaux Regional received this award for its Blood Management Clinical
Quality Improvement initiative. Blood Transfusions were reduced through
clinical decision support, evaluating and updating transfusion policies
and staff training. As a result of fewer transfusions, patient mortality
rates were lessened, the risk of hospital-acquired infections was lowered,
and more blood was available for emergency care.

Thibodaux Regional received this award for its redesign of the current
process for acute myocardial infarction patients presenting to the Emergency
Department. The process was standardized and streamlined to ensure timeliness
of care and improve patient outcomes. The standard time set by the American
Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology for a patient
to be brought from the emergency room to the cardiac catheterization lab
is 90 minutes. Thibodaux Regional has lowered that to an average of 42 minutes.
